Technology is the backbone of many small businesses. As companies grow more dependent on their technology, they must prepare for slowdowns, interruptions and disasters that can undermine morale, put their data at risk, and, in too many cases, shut business down for good. A 2008 report by SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business, indicates companies that experience computer outages lasting more than 10 days will never fully recover financially, while 70% of small firms that experience a major data loss go out of business within a year.
